Use the interview time to convey all your needs and requirements to the contractor. He must be able to answer all your questions directly and thoroughly. He must be knowledgeable about all aspects of the project including the cost of the supplies, alternative materials that can bring down costs, the right kind of fixtures and fittings for your kind of lifestyle etc. He must be able to listen to all your concerns, and must inspire confidence in his skills.
Your contractor must be able to provide a detailed breakdown of the cost of the project, including labor costs, cost of materials, cost of fittings and accessories, cost of special finishes etc. He must be able to quote a project rate that is around your budget range. All of the sudden we are having outlets that don't work, lights that won't turn on. We have replaced all the breakers in the electrical panel. We need someone to chase down the problem. Any referals would be appreciated. I used one electrican and they charged me $125 to change an outlet and 1 breaker. Didn't help or solve the problem.
